My mother told me to never follow the herd.
In the field of medicine, the herd has been stampeding toward the promise of pharmaceutical drugs or surgery for their patients instead of listening to them and learning more about their clinical history before offering a diagnosis. Unfortunately, hypothyroidism is a problem that commonly goes unrecognized and undiagnosed by most conventional physicians.
It gets even more complicated for women. In their mid-thirties, their progesterone levels begin dropping more quickly than their estrogen levels, creating a situation called estrogen dominance. Over time, this imbalance only gets worse.
Estrogen dominance causes the liver to produce high levels of thyroid binding globulin, which is a protein that binds thyroid hormone and decreases the amount of free available thyroid hormone which can be assimilated into the cells. For thyroid to be utilized properly and for resolution of hypothyroid symptoms, thyroid hormone needs to be free (i.e. unbound) and available.
The solution? By simply taking natural progesterone along with desiccated (or dried) thyroid, women are able to resolve these issues by eliminating estrogen dominance, thereby decreasing thyroid binding globulin levels and promoting the assimilation of thyroid hormone into their cells.
Some other benefits of supplementing with natural progesterone are:
1. Reverses osteoporosis by promoting osteoblastic activity in the bones
2. Promotes dieresis (relieving fluid retention)
3. Relieves headaches associated with menstrual cycle
4. Enhances mood
5. Alleviates breast tenderness
6. Alleviates fibrocystic breast disease
7. Regulates menstrual cycle
8. Relieves endometriosis
9. Assists with sleep and sleep patterns
10. Increases libido (or sex drive)
11. Protects against breast cancer and endometrial cancer
